PORTLAND, Ore.
Put a fork in me because I’m done.

Wait, on second thought, don’t poke me. I may just burst from all the food I’ve been eating the last four days at Feast Portland, the massive food festival here in the wildly weird and quirky city in the Pacific Northwest.

This is my second time at Feast Portland, which offers up a variety of events over four days during a time that generally brings nice weather to the city. Despite some problems with West Coast fires that sometimes brought a haze to the air, I generally lucked out with some beautiful, sunny weather for most of the events I attended, which included the Grand Tasting in downtown’s Pioneer Courthouse Plaza and the popular Friday Night Market at Zidell Yards in the South Waterfront area.

Chefs and purveyors from all over Oregon cooked up some delicious bites offered at various locations, while some visiting chefs, including a few from the San Francisco Bay Area, made a stop to partake in the culinary celebration. My favorite event, of course, was the Friday Night Market where a variety of bites and booze kept hungry diners busy under the night skies at the outdoor event.

Feast Portland Night Market 2017

Feast Portland, like I mentioned earlier, offers up a number of events around the city over four days, so that makes it even more impressive that each event seem to go off without a hitch. And every one attending seem to enjoy the fun and food. The event is also a fund-raiser, and this year some of the proceeds go to support Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, which tackles childhood hunger.

    Looks crazy! We’re going to Portland next month, any restaurants or places that you recommend? Funny, I’ve been listening to the BA podcast and Adam Rapoport looks completely different from what I thought.

      One place that just opened that I tried and liked is Proud Mary Cafe, which is from Melbourne. It’s in the fun Alberta District in the NE of Portland. Portland has a lot of options to explore.

    You had me at those huge s’mores! LOL So, is it a festival that gets so packed that it’s hard to move around? Or is there enough breathing room to move about without getting jostled to death?

      Since the events are ticketed, it never gets super crowded. The Grand Tasting can seem packed at times, but I didn’t feel overwhelmed. There’s room to move around.
